AUTHORITY PACKAGE 

DOT Number, MC, BOC-3, UCR

USDOT NUMBER

Assigned by the Department of Transportation, the USDOT Number uniquely identifies motor carriers for safety monitoring purposes, independent of the MC number.

MC NUMBER

The MC number, or operating authority, is required for interstate carriers transporting passengers or federally regulated commodities, obtained alongside a USDOT number.

UCR

Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) registers commercial motor vehicles, with fees based on fleet size, excluding trailers, and supports state safety activities.

IRS FORM 2290

Form 2290 is for vehicles over 54,000 lbs., filed annually by August 31 for tax payment and receipt

MCS 150

Motor carriers update the MCS 150 form every 24 months for regulatory compliance.
